February's Guild Meeting

The highlight of this month's meeting was a lecture and demo on Setting Options for Blocks by Carol Loessel.  She brought in a trunk-full of quilts that she had made over the years to provide us with a visual representation of her techniques.  Carol has published a book called Start with Scraps which she signed for me.

The committee members responsible for Charity quilts gave us a Show and Tell of all the preemie, baby and youth quilts that had been made during the month of January.  It's quite impressive how involved the guild is in making quilts for charity.  From their pile of kits, I picked up one that will be donated to Project Linus for a little girl.  It is a pre-printed panel and the backing and binding is provided.  All I have to do is provide the batting, layer the quilt and finish it.  One of the main reasons I joined the guild is to become an active participant in Project Linus.

Next month, one of the guild members will be demonstrating how to make an envelope purse.

Now, that's something to look forward to!
